Transformers: Animated Sneek Peek

Here is the first image of the Decepticons as they look in the upcoming television series!
Also, during this year's Comic Con, there was a preview of the upcoming show!
It actually looks cool! Love that the Dinobots are going to be present as well as Arcee.
Of course it seems there's going to be the obligitory "kid" character.
Hopefully the new series won't be full of computer and stylized animation.

The Woody Woodpecker and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection

Now that's a long title!
The Woody Woodpecker and Friends 3 disc DVD collection was released one week ago. What a great collection it is!
There are 75 theatrical cartoons on this set that stretch from 1930 - 1956!
Walter Lantz created a lot of cartoons during the Golden Age that I personally feel have been overlooked by the general public untill recently.
Woody Woodpecker is by far Walter Lantz's most popular creation. Other characters featured on these DVDs are Wally Walrus, Buzz Buzzard, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Andy Panda and Chilly Willy.
There are even cartoons showcased from Lantz's Cartune Classics and Swing Symphonies. I feel that some of the best cartoons are the one-shots created for those series.
Tex Avery worked at the Lantz Studio after his time with MGM, and he has his final theatrical cartoons featured here as well, with cartoons such as "The Legend of Rockabye Point" and "Sh-h-h-h-h-h" plus others!
Plenty of bonus features abound with secrets from the Lantz studio and segments featured on the classic Woody Woodpecker Show!

What's This?

A tattoo that cartoon historian, Jerry Beck found at the recent Comic Con!
Warner Bros Home Video seems to be surprising us with yet again, another Hanna Barbera set!
(probably a tie-in with the upcoming feature film...)
I'm a little curious what episodes are going to be included? I was a fan of the Smurfs when I was a youngster, but I'm not sure if it's a DVD set I would pick up?
Should be interesting once it's officially announced.

The Simpsons Movie: A Review

I saw The Simpsons Movie today. I must admit I haven't laughed during an animated feature like that in years!
The movie was well worth the wait! I was very impressed by the writing and animation and I think this will be bring back the classic wit that The Simpsons was known for several seasons ago!
The basic storyline follows The Simpsons family as they are forced to flee their hometown after Homer pollutes Lake Springfield.
Most of the supporting cast has a chance to grace the screen for a single, hilarious line or a simple cameo. Plus there are a few guest stars lending their voices for special appearances.
If FOX decides to produce sequels in the future, I'll be there again, centre row.
I highly recommend this movie to Simpson fans as well as anyone wanting to have a good laugh, for at least an hour and 20 minutes! Go see it! You won't regret it.

Happy 67th Birthday Bugs!

July 27th marks the first time audiences were introduced to the "true" Bugs Bunny in "A Wild Hare" directed by Tex Avery in 1940!
I'm sure Bugs will still be around for another 67 at least!
Let's celebrate with one of Bugs' best routines from 1947's "Slick Hare"!

The Simpson Movie Opens Today

Will it be as good as I hope it to be?
According to a recent review, "In accordance with Simpsons' fans, it is as funny as Season 9 or 10."
I'll be there this afternoon!

Road Runner by View-Master

I have held onto a great piece of my childhood.
For at least the last 26 years, I have kept a 1967 View-Master reel entitled "Beep Beep The Road Runner"!
Out of 3, I only have 1 left. I have no memory of what the other 2 reels featured.
I decided to try to take pics of the frames with my digital camera and they look great.
It's too bad that View-Master no longer builds actual "sets" of popular cartoon characters. They look awesome!
The gag featured is taken straight from the 1965 cartoon, "Highway Runnery".

Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law

Adult Swim's favorite Hanna-Barbera-retro-superhero-turned-lawyer, Harvey Birdman, is coming to an end this Sunday night.
I've only seen a little of the show, mostly the first season and some of the second, but it always made me laugh. Love the spoofing of all those great Hanna Barbera characters!
Here is a montage of funny clips from the series run, enjoy!

Nintendo DS: Duck Amuck

Nintendo will be releasing the new Looney Tunes game for Nintendo DS soon!
It has already been getting good reviews for being the best Looney Tunes-themed game yet!

A game where pissing off Daffy Duck is the main goal? Sign me up!

I may have to pick up a Nintendo DS so I can give this game a whirl!

Robot Chicken's Star Wars Special

This is the recent Star Wars themed Robot Chicken special in 3 parts! George Lucus even took part in creating this half-hour episode.
I'm not a huge Star Wars fan myself, but this special is hilarious!

(sorry for the quality of the video, I don't have a proper program to work with...)

Looney Tunes All-Stars: Comic Ball Cards

Back in 1990, with Bugs Bunny's 50th birthday in mind, Warner Bros partnered with The Upper Deck Company to produce a unique collection of baseball cards featuring the Looney Tunes characters!
When the cards are placed into card-sheets, the collector is rewarded with several baseball-themed Looney Tunes stories originally written and illustrated by Golden Age animation director Chuck Jones!
I have had the entire collection in storage for a while now and I have decided to share a few stories from the set with you!
Chuck even inserted a new Mighty Angelo story....
To be continued....
There's just something "weird" about the Roadrunner falling for a mechanical baseball.
Other Looney Tunes that made cameos and appearences are Sylvester, Tweety, Yosemite Sam, Tasmanian Devil, Charlie Dog, Granny, Marvin the Martian, Sylvester Jr., Hippity Hopper, Pepe LePew, Witch Hazel, Egghead Jr., Baby Bear, Marc Anthony, Pussyfoot and Frisky Puppy.
There were about 3 other series of cards, but without the Chuck Jones' charm, they weren't as special.
