Space Jam 2?

According to Moviehole.net, Warner Premire has a batch of sequels planned.
http://www.moviehole.net/news/20070430
Along with Beetlejuice 2, Return to House on Haunted Hill, A Dennis the Menace Christmas and Dukes of Hazzard 2 (which has been released..) a sequel to Space Jam is in the works.
On one hand, I'm excited for new Looney Tunes animation, on the other hand, why remake a crappy movie? Hopefully it won't be one big commercial for Michael Jordan again.

2 More 80's Shows Hitting DVD

Just announced today by TVShowsonDVD, S'more Entertainment has recieved the rights to 2 DIC Animation produced shows from the early 1980s!
Expect to see The Get-Along Gang: The Complete Series this September!
http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7231

Next up is The Littles: The Complete Series this October!
http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7232

Will these two shows hold up with today's audiences, or will it be a revisit to the childhoods of many late 20-somethings?

Ren Loses it on Stimpy & Sven

This is my absolute favorite "animation acting" from the classic John K series.
The poses, expressions and delivery are all top notch! "I'm gonna hit 'ya...and you're gonna fall..."

A Disney DVD Collection I Would Buy

I hope that Disney DVD is considering to release season sets of "House of Mouse".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Mouse
The series was a revamp of "Mickey Mouse Works" that featured Mickey and the gang running a cartoon club that entertained various Disney characters from the classic animated shorts and features.
The series ran from 2001 until 2004 for 52 episodes.
Personally, I thought this was one of the last great traditionally animated shows for television. The cartoons and gags were very enjoyable and cartoony.
The creators of both "Mouse Works" and "House" were Tony Craig & Roberts Gannaway. They worked previously on "The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa", "Hercules: the series" and "101 Dalmations: the series".
The people who worked on this show really kept the characters true to their personalities and gave them a modern makeover.
The premire episode is available as a bonus feature on "Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in the House of Mouse". The other DVD release is "Mickey's House of Villians".
I hope Disney DVD has this series in mind for a future release. All the classic characters make cameos in this show, so there is a little bit of everything that the audience will like.

Mel Blanc on The Jack Benny Show

Mel blanc, the man who gave voice to hundreds of classic cartoon characters, was a regular supporting player on the classic Jack Benny program. Starting on radio first, then moving onto television.
Here are a couple of funny skits featuring Jack Benny and Mel Blanc...

There is just something so charming about this classic kind of comedy that's lost today.

Looney Tunes #150

The issue is going to deal with Daffy Duck's career in film, probably celebrating Daffy's 70th birthday. The issue has artists galore giving their personal touch to the duck.

August Warner Bros DVD Releases

For those who are interested, Warner Home Video is releasing Loonatics: Unleashed - The Complete Second Season.
This season introduces more Loonatic versions of classic Looney Tunes characters, Ophiuchus Sam, Electro J. Fudd, Slyth Vester and Melvin Martian.
http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7185

Also being released is A Pup Named Scooby-Doo: Volume 7.
This collection completes the series with 5 final episodes. This volume features my personal favorite, "Catcher on the Sly" which is the wackiest cartoon out of the series. Scooby outwits an obsessed dog catcher who "always gets his Doo" in pure cartoon fashion.
http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7187

Expect to see these on shelves on August 14th, 2007!

Quick Draw McGraw DVD Trouble

According to Earl Kress, Warner Bros is having trouble with the Quickdraw McGraw DVD collection due to music rights.
http://www.mynameisearlkress.com/weblog/?p=162
Hopefully the matter will be solved and the fans of the show will be able to have the series on DVD. (too bad about the possibility of a Ruff and Reddy set as well...)

Jimmy The Turtle Food Collector

For your Spumco fans out there!
I came across an unpublished(?) comic story featuring Jimmy the Idiot Boy and George Liquor on The Unofficial Spumco Website.
http://www.unofficialspumco.com/index.html
Lots of great art and gags in this one. I assume it was created for Spumco's "Comic Book", the short lived series?
There lots of other great stuff on the site as well.
To see the story, follow the above link and click the "Jimmy The Turtle Food Collector" button!

A Pup Named Scooby Doo Movie?

Warner Premiere, Warner Bros' Direct-to-DVD film line, has a prequel to Scooby Doo in the works for 2008.
http://online.wsj.com/public/article/
Although there is no plot info available yet, there is a rumor that it may be a film version of "A Pup Named Scooby Doo", a Saturday Morning 'toon from the late '80s.
There was already a flashback scene of the characters in "Pup" roles in Scooby Doo 2, so it could be on Warner's minds.

The Inspector Heading to DVD

Just announced for July 24th, 2007.
"The Pink Panther & Friends Vol 6: The Inspector"
.
http://www.amazon.com/Pink-Panther-Inspector-Classic-Cartoons/
(No cover art at this time, but once available, it will be here!)
Inspired by Peter Sellers' Inspector Clouseau, DePatie-Freleng created a new series of cartoons in 1966 to accompany the Pink Panther shorts.
The Inspector is calm, cool and relaxed as he puts up with his sidekick Sergeant Deux-Deux, facing The Commissioner's wrath and battling an array of criminals of all shapes and sizes.

It seems that the producers of the film went over budget, so they tried to make more money by adding more product placement. Good thing it's hardly noticable.....

Looney Tunes: "Duck Amuck" the Game

Recently announced by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment, "Duck Amuck" is going to be a new game for the Nintendo DS where the player can test Daffy Duck's temper with their stylis.

Happy 20th Anniversary Simpsons!

April 19th, 1987 marks the first airing of The Simpsons on the Tracey Ullman Show!
http://www.parade.com/features/070418/touchstones-simpsons.html
In two years time, the short animated segments expanded into a half-hour sitcom.
I guess that would explain why 2007 is the chosen year to present The Simpsons Movie.
Happy Anniversary Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie!

Happy Birthday Daffy Duck!

In 1937, Warner Bros released a new Porky Pig cartoon called "Porky's Duck Hunt".
A crazy, darn fool duck is introduced in this cartoon and animation history was made.
Happy 70th Birthday Daffy!
